As you step into Pacific Rim, you are immediately enveloped by a warm and polished ambiance that is both inviting and refined. The restaurant’s decor offers a seamless mix of contemporary touches and traditional elements that reflect the diverse culinary inspirations behind each dish. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, guests can enjoy their meals while soaking in the vibrancy of downtown Ann Arbor.

The menu at Pacific Rim features an exquisite variety of dishes, with something to satisfy every palate. Start your meal with the Saigon Spring Rolls, delicately crispy and filled with tender tiger shrimp, taro, and vibrant vegetables, all paired with a zesty Vietnamese-style chili-lime dipping sauce for an explosion of flavor at just $10. Another crowd-pleaser is the Tuna Tartare with Taro Chips. This dish features diced sashimi-grade tuna enriched with avocado and wakame, served with housemade taro chips that bring a pleasing crunch to every bite—an absolute steal at $10.

For the main course, the Miso-Teriyaki Salmon takes center stage. This dish boasts succulent Faroe Islands Atlantic salmon glazed with a rich miso-teriyaki sauce, complemented by sautéed zucchini and green beans, priced at $28. Alternatively, indulge in the Seared Big Eye Tuna, lightly seared to perfection and accompanied by exotic ginger-miso sauce, wasabi oil, and a refreshing julienned jicama salad for $31. These offerings showcase the careful craftsmanship that goes into every dish at Pacific Rim.

And don’t forget dessert! The Warm Chocolate Cake is a must-try, featuring bittersweet chocolate paired with toasted coconut-Kahlua ice cream and sake-macerated cherries for a heavenly experience at $9. For those craving something lighter, the Creme Brulee Tasting presents three miniature variations: green tea, ginger, and Thai makrut lime leaf, inviting you to savor a little bit of everything.

Patrons rave about their dining experiences at Pacific Rim, with many highlighting the attentive and friendly service that elevates the meal. From romantic anniversaries to lively birthday celebrations, the restaurant has become a go-to choice for special occasions, as noted by satisfied customers like Sathiyan Kutty, who remarked on the perfect cooking of both the calamari and salmon, as well as the warm hospitality encountered during their visit.

However, a few voices have mentioned areas to improve, such as expanding vegetarian options. While there’s only one main vegetarian dish, the Thai peanut noodles have garnered positivity, with guests appreciating the presence of vegan delights like the garlic chive dumplings and zucchini-scallion crepes.

At Pacific Rim By Kana, each dish is a story waiting to be told, and the restaurant beautifully balances flavor, presentation, and experience. If you are in Ann Arbor and seeking an unforgettable culinary experience that excites the senses, look no further than this delightful establishment.

My wife and I went here for an anniversary dinner, which did not disappoint. We have been here a few times now, and every time it is excellent. We started with the Thai calamari. It was cooked absolutely perfectly. The calamari was very tender, and the outside was fried crispy. The sauce was fruity and had a nice vinegary punch to it as well. My only critique is that it could have used more salt. Some pieces were salted nicely, but others needed more. For the main dish, I had the Duck and my wife had the Tuna. The duck was cooked to a nice medium rare along with a 5-spice reduction sauce, and it was delicious. It came with broccoli and a cheesy risotto. The tuna was served raw with a ginger-miso-wasabi sauce. It was so good. Service is always excellent. Lastly, we had a sample of the Mango Thai basil sorbet, it too was excellent, very Thai basil forward, which I really like. We left very satisfied.

Food was decent. Not great but decent. I had the vegan Thai peanut noodles. Menu said crispy fried tofu, but the tofu came soft. Noodles were similar to fettuccine which was odd. Sauce was similar to pad Thai sauce. Food came out a little cold. But better than no vegan options in Ann Arbor. Service was decent.

Went here for a birthday dinner and we had great service from the staff. They really made her feel welcome. We had the salmon and calamari and the vegetarian crepes. The calamari was a good portion and perfectly fried. The salmon was medium and also perfectly cooked. Overall a really great experience!

Had an amazing tuna dish here last week for dinner. The rice was formed into little pucks and was grilled slightly on both sides. Slightly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside.

Much care is taken in the presentation of dishes at Pacific Rim. Only one vegetarian main dish, Thai peanut noodles, but thankfully it is good. The few vegetarian appetizers (Chinese garlic chive dumplings, zucchini-scallion crepes) were also nice. Do wish they would add some more vegetarian options to their menu though. We sat outside because indoor seating was full, and the experience was just ok. The sidewalk is narrow and many people were walking through.

Pacific Rim by Kana offers a warm, polished dining experience with refined pan-Asian flavors and thoughtful service. We ordered a variety of dishes and loved every one of them. The Tuna Tartare with Taro Chips was a crisp, textural starter with a bright, clean flavor. The Unagi Terrine was a standout—served warm over sushi rice with avocado and finished with a bold, green mustard sauce. Rich, smoky, and deeply satisfying—one of the best bites of the night. For mains, both the Japanese-Style Sablefish and the Korean-Marinated Ribeye were excellent. Served over rice, they evoke donburi and bibimbap in elevated, plated form. The sablefish was silky and miso-glazed, while the ribeye was charred and tender, topped with a soft egg that brought everything together. Dessert was just as thoughtful. We had a Pistachio and Mascarpone Crêpe, and a Crème Brûlée Tasting with green tea, key lime, and ginger. The brûlées were distinct and well-balanced. Our server even added a birthday candle—unprompted and kind. Service was quietly exceptional. Our young server (possibly a student) was attentive, sincere, and never pushy. The setting is elegant without being fussy—warm lighting, natural wood tones, and subtle pan-Asian décor make it perfect for a special dinner that doesn’t need to show off. Just quality, quietly done right.

Since my last visit in 2011, I came back with my son. This place uniquely offers some menus in Korean-French styles. We had tartare for the starter and sablefish and prawns for the main entrees. Sablefish was amazing (like sea bass tenderness) as before but i felt a bit too sweet this time. The best part was warm chocolate cake with ice creme. Don't miss this even you are full
